Installation Guide
Most installations take 10–15 minutes per window. You'll need a drill, a level, a pencil and the included screws (use the included wall anchors for drywall). Measured correctly per our measuring guide? Then everything below clicks together.
What's in the box
- Your blind with cassette headrail
- Mounting brackets — 2 brackets for blinds under 72" wide, 3 brackets for wider blinds
- Screws and anchors
- Chain safety tensioner (manual blinds)
- Charging cable and remote (motorised blinds)
Inside mount
- Hold a bracket inside the top of the frame, 2–3 inches from each end (third bracket centred, if included). Mark the screw holes with a pencil.
- Drill pilot holes and screw the brackets in. Check they're level — an unlevel blind tracks crooked.
- Tilt the front of the cassette into the brackets and push the back up until it clicks.
- Test: the blind should roll evenly with no rubbing on either side.
Outside mount
- Mark your bracket positions on the wall or moulding at least 2–3 inches above the window opening, level with each other, even with the width you ordered.
- Use the included anchors if you're not screwing into a stud or wood moulding.
- Click the cassette in exactly as for inside mount.
Chain safety — required
Install the chain tensioner. Health Canada's corded window covering regulations exist because loose chains are a strangulation hazard for young children. Mount the included tensioner to the wall or frame so the chain is held taut, with no loose loop. Keep cribs, beds and climbable furniture away from the chain side. Motorised blinds have no chain and are the recommended choice for kids' rooms.
Motorised blinds — first use
- Charge the motor fully with the included USB cable before first use (a full charge typically lasts about 6 months of daily use).
- Pair the remote: press the motor's pairing button, then the up arrow on the remote within 5 seconds — the blind jogs to confirm.
- Set the upper and lower limits following the included quick-start card.
- Smart motors: add the blind in the app indicated on your quick-start card to control it by phone, voice assistant or schedules.
