1. Who we are
This privacy policy explains how P.M. Blinds inc. ("P.M. Blinds", "we", "us"), located at 3 rue Sunnydale, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec H9B 1E1, collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information when you visit pmblinds.ca, place an order, book an in-home measuring appointment or communicate with us. You can reach us at peter@pmblinds.ca or at +1-514-836-0916.
We comply with the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Quebec), as amended by the Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information (Law 25), as well as the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada), where applicable.
2. Personal information we collect
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses.
- Payment information: processed directly by our payment providers (Shopify Payments, PayPal, Google Pay). We never store your card numbers.
- Order and measurement details: the products you order, the window dimensions and specifications you provide for your custom blinds, your order history and your communications with us.
- Device and browsing data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, collected through cookies and a Shopify web pixel (analytics) active on the store.
3. Purposes for which we use your information
- To process, manufacture and deliver your custom orders;
- To schedule and carry out in-home measuring appointments;
- To provide you with customer support and handle warranty, remake or exchange claims;
- To comply with our legal obligations (for example, tax and accounting requirements);
- With your consent, to send you marketing communications. You may withdraw this consent at any time.
4. Consent and cookies
We collect and use your personal information with your consent, or where otherwise permitted by law. Tracking and analytics technologies (cookies and the Shopify web pixel) are not necessary to browse the store and you may refuse them: you can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. We are currently deploying a consent management tool that will let you accept or refuse non-essential cookies directly on the site (prior consent).
5. Disclosure of your information
We do not sell your personal information. We disclose it only to the service providers who need it to serve you: Shopify Inc., which hosts our store; our payment providers (Shopify Payments, PayPal, Google Pay); the carriers that deliver your order; and analytics service providers. These providers may use your information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose personal information where required or permitted by law.
6. Disclosure of your information outside Quebec
Because our store is hosted by Shopify Inc., your personal information is communicated to and stored outside Quebec and elsewhere in Canada and in the United States and by Shopify and its sub processors, as well as by our payment providers. Before communicating personal information outside Quebec, we took into account the privacy factors related to these communications, including through a privacy impact assessment (PIA), to ensure that this information receives adequate protection.
7. Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, including to honour our product warranties for as long as the law requires (for example, tax legislation requires us to keep transaction records). When it is no longer needed, it is securely destroyed or anonymized.
8. Your rights
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- Rectification: have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected;
- Withdrawal of consent: withdraw your consent to the use or disclosure of your information at any time (for example, for marketing purposes);
- De-indexing: ask us to cease disseminating your personal information or to de-index any hyperlink attached to your name where the dissemination causes you harm or contravenes the law;
- Portability: receive the computerized personal information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer (below). We will verify your identity and respond within 30 days.
