Zebra (Day-Night) Blinds Explained
Zebra blinds — also called day-night or dual shades — are one of the most popular modern window treatments. Here's how they work and when to choose them.
How zebra blinds work
Two layers of fabric alternate sheer and solid horizontal bands. Slide the layers so the sheer bands line up and you get a soft, filtered view; offset them so the solid bands meet and you get privacy and shade. It's like having a roller shade and a sheer in one, with smooth control over how much light comes in.
Light-filtering vs. room-darkening zebra
Most zebra shades are light-filtering — soft daylight with privacy. If you want a deeper dim for bedrooms or media rooms, choose a room-darkening zebra like Velour or Eclipse, or the Luna blackout zebra.
Where they shine
Zebra blinds suit living rooms and home offices where you want flexible light through the day and a contemporary, banded texture.
